The objectives of this compilation is to provide an overview of Transdermal drug delivery system. Here matrix patches of Glipizide by using different ratio of ethyl cellulose and polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 preapared and characterized. The influence of oleic acid (OA) and its combined effect with propylene glycol (PG) on the percutaneous permeation of drug was also studied. All the in- vitro studies were conducted by using cellophane membrane and human cadaver skin. Data recorded over 24 hr was compared with that for control formulation (containing no enhancers) using Franz diffusion cells. Stability study and statistical analysis of data was also done. This book would be effective for those persons working at initial stage of Transdermal drug delivry.

In the present study, an attempt was made to formulate mucoadhesive buccal patches of flurbiprofen (FBN) in order to enhance solubility. Solubity enhancement was attempted by making solid dispersion of drug with -CD (cyclodextrin). Initially preformulation were carried out using reported methods. Buccal patches was prepared by solvent casting technique using polymers like Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), Sodium carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC), and Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC). The prepared patches were evaluated for their weight variation, thickness, folding endurance, surface pH, swelling index, in-vitro residence time, in-vitro permeation studies, drug content uniformity and bioadhesion test.

The present study was undertaken with the objective to explore the anticataract potential of methanolic extract of Butea frondosa leaves by oxidative stress (Hydrogen peroxide) in Goat eyes (lens) and also the anti-inflammatory activity of aqueous extract of Butea frondosa bark in rats. Butea frondosa is commonly known as Palash and the plant belongs to family Leguminosae. In view of the literature findings, sufficient studies were reported on flowers and seeds, and lesser attention was paid towards leaves. Therefore, the present study was planned to concentrate upon leaves and was selected for the study, which is a rich source of phytoconstituents. In Chromatographic studies the TLC plates were observed using different solvent systems, detected under short wave UV spectrophotometer, with a Rf value of 0.26, 0.30, 0.42, 0.55. After conducting phytochemical test, focus was on to isolate the desired compound using repeated column chromatography. Chloroform and Methanol (9:1) were used as eluent for separation of desired compound from the crude extract.

This study encompasses preparation microsponges based colon specific tablet formulations. Initially, microsponges of dicyclomine and paracetamol were prepared by quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion method. The reason for preparing microsponge due to the fact that, drug carrier systems less than 200 m may efficiently be taken up by the macrophages present in colon tissue, thus exhibit effective localized drug action at the desired site. A subsequent increase of residence time that may be postulated for microsponges as compared to existing drug delivery systems may allow dose reduction and enhance therapeutic effect. Another reason for preparing microsponges was their sponge like texture that can easily be compressed by direct compression for producing mechanically strong tablets. Then core tablets of microsponges were prepared by direct compression method and were compression coated with pectin: HPMC mixture. The reason for selecting pectin was its biodegradation in the colon by colonic flora. HPMC is reported to increase the mechanical strength of the tablet coat and helped in maintaining its integrity during its sojourn in the gastro-intestinal tract.

The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability of a site called the e-Lesson Creator (eLe. E-Lesson Creator is a web-based course management system developed by a group of researchers from the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia led by Abdul Rashid Mohamed. The main objectives of the development of the eLC were to create customized lessons to suit the learning needs of learners with different levels of abilities and to make it readily available and easily accessible to teachers at different geographical locations. In practice, the e-Lesson Creator is a platform from which teachers choose and pick the material needed from a multimedia library using a lesson template wizard that has been specifically created for that purpose. The evaluation focused on usability testing of its interface design. This usability testing employed the Heuristics Evaluation method (1993), which involved examining the e-lesson Creator's User Interface Design in the areas of Screen Design; Navigational patterns; Ease of Access; Ease of Use of Site and Flexibility of use. The evaluation pointed to positive and encouraging acceptance by the subjects.

Ancient spiritual teachers and enlightened spirits have ordained that to know the self is the ultimate goal of one's life. Lord Mahavir said, "One who knows one (self), knows everything else." "One who is awake or aware of the self is the real saint (Muni) and the one who is not awake is not a saint (Amuni." Socrates and Jesus Christ also said, "Know Thyself." This also means to know and to be aware of the self. Maharshi Patanjali of Yoga fame says, "To be in oneself is 'Kaivalya', the highest gnana (wisdom)." Lord Buddha said, "To end the suffering, you set up yourself in constant awareness. Constant Awareness is enlightenment.."
Self-Knowledge- End of Conflict and Suffering
According to J. Krishnamurti, one of the most enlightened souls of the twentieth century, self-awareness is the beginning and the end of life. Conflict and suffering exist as long as I do not understand myself. Therefore, understanding self is much more important than knowing how to overcome sorrow and conflict. Most of us are totally unaware of ourselves. We do not observe our own thoughts and feelings The more you know yourself, the more clarity there is. Self-Knowledge has no end. It is an endless river.

According to Nisargadatta Maharaj, present has the stamp of reality because I am always now, in the present and what is with me now shares in my reality. The past is in memory, the future in imagination."
To know one's real self is bliss, to forget-is sorrow. The real is beyond the mind. Seeing the false as false is meditation. This must go on all the time. Exercise in discrimination between the true and the false and renunciation of the false is meditation. Do not undervalue attention (Dhyana). It means interest and also love. Self-remembrance and self-realization are two aspects of the same state. Self-remembrance is in the mind, self-realization is beyond the mind.
The obstacles to clear perception of one's true being are desire for pleasure and fear of pain. It is the pleasure-pain motivation that stands in the way. What is the root of the pain? Ignorance of self. What is the root of desire? The urge to find self. All creation toils for its self and will not rest until it returns to it.
Harmlessness is most powerful form of Yoga and it will take you speedily to your goal. This is what I call nisarga yoga, the Natural yoga. It is the art of living in peace and harmony, in friendliness and love. The fruit of it is happiness, uncaused and endless.
According to Eckhart Tolle, the author of "The Power of Now," The greatest difficulty in experiencing reality (or having self awareness) is "the identification with mind." The incessant mental noise prevents you from finding that realm of inner stillness that is inseparable from being (the self).
Thinking has become a disease. Mind is a superb instrument, if used rightly. When it is out of our control, it is a disease. As you go more deeply into this realm of no-mind, you realize the state of pure consciousness in which "you are highly alert and aware but not thinking." This is the essence of meditation.
"NOW" - THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF LIFE
Pain is self-created till the unobserved mind runs your life. The greater part of the human pain is avoidable. The pain that you create now is always some form of non-acceptance, some form of unconscious resistance to what is. "Make 'Now' the primary focus of your life. Say yes to life-and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you. This will miraculously transform your whole life."
Attaining self-awareness is the objective of life and through meditation one can learn the art of living in the present with full awareness. Present is the most important thing. The past, being in memory, and the future, only foreboding, are the root cause of suff
